Jerome Grey, the Samoan Chief Jeromeís lineage traces back from King Leiataua Lesa of Manono, to Fa’asua Ma Le Aui of Puleia, to Fa’anana of Satupa’itea, to Pa’u, Leilua and Fepulea’i of Safotulafai, on the Island of Savai’i. Fa’anana and FepuleaFa’i titles were formally bestowed (saofa’i) upon Jerome at ceremonies at the said villages. His mother Toeasonaimoamoa is from the Fuamatu family, (one of the titles Jerome currently holds), from the village of LauliFa’i at Vaimauga I SasaFa’e County on ’Upolu Island. “To be a Matai is a tremendous commitment to leadership, and I am extremely grateful to the families for this honor. Therefore, I dedicate the traditional tatau to the noble families I represent, as a sign of pride in who I am and where I come from.”

Waikiki Beach, Hawaii This photo was taken on the beach at Waikiki, entertaining tourists and preparing for a concert with Israel Kamakawiwiaole (a.k.a. “Bruddah IZ”). Later on that evening, Jerome performed with the Makaha Sons of Ni’hau at Aloha Tower.

Alternate "Coconut Woman" Album Cover (1989) This was a previous sketch of the “Coconut Woman” album cover, the producer tried something different, and succeeded! The map of Upolu Point on the Big Island shows the migration of Samoans to Hawaii, lead by Pa’ao. Pa’ao’s nephew Pili was the father of the great King Kamehameha from the village of Kohala.

The Balboa Bay Club - Newport Beach, California Jerome’s group, Samoa Three, performed at The Balboa Bay Club and had the pleasure of meeting “The Duke,” (a.k.a. John Wayne), who was the president of the exclusive Balboa Bay Club. Jerome and his group also met Johnny Weissmuller (the original Tarzan), Lucille Ball (of “I Love Lucy”) and Joey Bishop.

10th Annual Aloha Concert Jam September 29, 2001 This was the second Aloha Concert Jam, at which Jerome performed. It was held at Queen Mary Long Beach Park and produced by Malosi Malosi, Jr. This was a fabulous two-day gathering of some of the finest music groups and ausiva troops of California. Since it was the same year of the tragic events that occurred on September 11, Jerome sang his soulful Samoan rendition of “America The Beautiful”. The talented musicians for this occasion were Lotu on the drums, Leroy Fa’amuli on lead guitar, Ben Meisake on rhythm guitar and vocals, Taumata Grey on the bass and vocals, and Anamativa Grey on the ukulele and vocals.

Paris 1989 Jerome responded to a request from the office of the Samoan government in Belgium to tour with the Samoan Rugby Rep Team and a Samoan dance theatre group to Europe. Fe’sago G. Fepulea’ióthe ambassador, his secretary Leulupoao A. Maiai, and Jerome met one morning, to discuss a name for the rugby squad. For the record, Leulupoao A. Maiai won the discussion. The national team was named Manu Samoa, and the rest was history. Jerome toured with the album “Pelega O Samoa” which sold at performances all over Europe.

Jerome’s Cove - Apia, Samoa Jerome and Mac To’omalatai at “Jerome”s Cove," rehearse for a concert at the Sasakawa Peace Conference in Tokyo, Japan. After the concert, Jerome and Mac stayed at the Tokyo Prince Hotel as guests at the Sumo Ranch, managed by sumo champion Konishiki Saleava!’a.

KFVE Honolulu, Hawaii (1989) After the album “Sweet Lady Of Waiíahole” was released, Jerome did a media tour at local radio and TV stations. This was a live interview on channel 5, for a prime time show featuring different entertainers across the state of Hawaii.

San Francisco Community Center David Tua and Jerome were trying out some footwork moves for his taualuga at one of Jerome’s concerts at the San Francisco Community Center. “Good luck champ, you’re my hero.”

Jerome’s Cove ad (1986) Jerome and his wife Emily opened "Jerome’s Cove" in Western Samoa which became the hottest club in town. The Cove also held talent competitions, local island night fiafias, and featured guest singers and entertainers.

Jerome Grey Orchestra poster (1992) Being in Guam for five weeks was an experience for Jerome and his band. It resembled Samoa and Hawaii, but was slightly smaller in size. The fun-loving Chamorrans loved Jerome's music and he made friends there in no time. “I enjoy playing with all kinds of musicians. On this gig, I had the pleasure of playing with some jazz guys, and still managed to fuse it with the my reggae-Latino style of music.”

Voices of Samoa Concert - Honolulu, Hawaii (2003) On July 19, 2003, the Voices of Samoa concert was held in the heart of Honolulu, Hawaii at Kapono’s Amphitheater at Aloha Tower Marketplace. It marked the 40th year since Jerome became a professional musician. “Special thanks to my wife Emily and my children, who have been so supportive of my career, and for initiating this great opportunity for me to perform in Hawaii. Fa’afetai lava to Angie, Tyman, Tess Baraquio and Harry Alonso from Harmony Productions, and all family and friends who volunteered their time and effort in making this event possible. Thanks also to our MC Makani, Billy for the awesome sound, Schoen for the bandís accommodations, the Manuma Family, Jack and Cha Thompson and Tihati Productions for your awesome performance lead by my tatau uso, Afatia Thompson, one of Samoa’s greatest fire knife dancers.
